the little soap shop

since i was born, i knew that my family was awesome...
that my life would be awesome because of them.

so my life kept bringing in the awesome and weeding out the nasties...
much like knowledge and information and everything organic does
for ourselves, our psyches, everything.

enter, the little soap shop.
um, hello?
flippin' awesome.

you can see the linky at the side
of my page
to the right.

the store's owner and creator of all organic soaps and such,
is magic in and of herself
and as surely as i knew about my writing from very young,
she knew that she also had a craft--
which clearly shows
in her Practical Magic-y shop.

love love love!

needless to say,
i shopped.
for now--
because LML snatched up the goodies
and firmly stated
that it belonged to him.

her products do wonders for the body
and smell so,
so good.
and it's good for you!!

so click the link,
and happy shopping!!

love me,

Tamara Mellon- Inspiration

Tamara Mellon is the Jimmy Choo founder. Did you know that? I learned about her on Oprah a few years back and then she was in an In Style interview Feb. 2008.

Finding the article a clipped out back then gave me the inspration for this post...
she was featured in Harper's Bazzar here.

Look at the pictures of her home (these are the rooms that i love):

read about her on wikipedia or here (taken from wikipedia):
[edit] Early lifeMellon was born in London, on 7 July 1967, the daughter of Tom Yeardye, a successful entrepreneur and Ann (Davis) Yeardye, a former Chanel model. She was educated in Berkshire at Heathfield St Mary's School, in Beverly Hills and in Switzerland.

[edit] CareerMellon began her career at Phyllis Walters Public Relations, Mirabella, and followed as accessories editor for British Vogue in 1990.

Recognizing the potential for development of high-end designer accessories, Mellon approached bespoke shoe-maker Mr Jimmy Choo with the idea of launching a ready-to-wear shoe company. As co-founder of the Jimmy Choo Company, Tamara secured funding from her father, for the creation of her business, and sourced factories in Italy. In addition, she set up an office in Italy to handle production, quality control and shipping. By 2001, Jimmy Choo had over 100 wholesale clients including Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman, and the collections accounted for over 50% of the production of several of these factories.

The design collaboration between Tamara and creative director Sandra Choi led to an immediate demand from other top stores. The Motcombe Street store was followed by stores in New York, Las Vegas and Beverly Hills. In April 2001, the expansion of Jimmy Choo took a step forward with the announcement of a new partnership with Equinox Luxury Holdings Ltd. Acquiring Mr Choo’s share of the ready to wear business, Equinox’s Chief Executive Robert Bensoussan became CEO of Jimmy Choo. This transaction enabled Jimmy Choo to achieve outstanding results, with the introduction of handbag and small leather goods collections. In November 2004, with the company valued at £101 million, Hicks Muse announced the majority acquisition of Jimmy Choo — yet another significant move for the future development of the company.

From the first boutique opened in Knightsbridge, London, in 1996, Jimmy Choo now has a total of 39 stores, including London (Sloane Street & New Bond Street), New York, Beverly Hills, Washington D.C., Boston, Dallas, Moscow, Milan and Hong Kong and is distributed by select stores worldwide. In 2007, Mellon made another appearance on the Sunday Times Rich List, where she is ranked as the 751st richest person in the UK, with an estimated wealth of £99 million.[1] She is also ranked as the 64th richest woman in Britain.[2]

Mellon was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2010 Birthday Honours.[3]

[edit] Public and Political ActivitiesMellon is a member of the New Enterprise Council, a group of entrepreneurs who advise the Conservative Party (UK) on policies related to the needs of business. [1]

On the 9th November 2010 she was named as a 'global trade envoy for Britain' by the British Government. She will have a "roving brief to promote the country’s booming fashion industry overseas".[4]

her motivation is my inspiration today.

a happy tuesday

hello and welcome to all my new bloggie friends :)

how are you? how was your weekend? i hope you had a lot of fun!
we accomplished a lot of "fun-harvest" time activities this weekend,
and i always come back feeling insanely happy and refreshed.

the only thing that we have not done yet this month?
MOONLIGHT MAZE! HAYRIDES! and so much more...

this week season holds a lot of weight in my to-do list.
the amount of duties i have to complete is ridiculous!

as we speak, my puppy is at resort-family. i will go pick him up in a little while :)
and today...office time!

that means a lot of writing, organizing, idea-making...
which leads to list making...

and you know how i am with lists.

happily, i have 2 pen pals to write back to,
and some time to do online shopping.

LML and I celebrated our FIVE year [church]wedding anniversary this weekend...
five! time flies...
in december, it will be SIX YEARS MARRIED! eeps!

We are trying to plan a big sort of shi-bang...a quiet one just between us
which i can tell y'all about when it's over...

very exciting.

one of them includes buying new furniture...
but it's a long-term plan that makes us happy.

(that conversation probably began when we've realized that our necessary evils would be console tables...)
we have nowhere to put our feet or magazines when we're lounging on the couch!)

ooh.
come to think of it- there's a lot of plans in the works...eeps!

well, off to list make, and attack my blog-n-tea time :)

what are you guys doing today?

love me,
the globetrotting gamine

2.23.2010

what is the deal?

so it is so cold today-
and i go out finally, to buy myself dinner...
because LML will be eating leftovers.

i probably look like ugly feet,
and begin to walk from the car to the store...

when i hear an engine revving up.
3 times.
about to look up and give the finger,
i look into the car...

and it is a guy older than my FATHER!!

eeweeweeweew eew eeweeweew
times
a
million

freaking disgusting perverts.

drama and updates

Dear Bloggie Friends:

this is what has been going on in my world:
  • i still have not gotten the case results from NOVEMBER 2008 from the Board of Education, because they are *&%^&(. So I plan to sue them and will be contacting this massive lawyer later :)
  • the friend that i've previously mentioned in posts the last two weeks- the one that has been spewing my information (like what i have and what i do and other intimate details) has now been running around and telling people that i must be pregnant because i wrote to her to please stop telling everyone my private information. Seriously, what do you do with that?
  • LML and I had a uber-fun weekend vineyard hopping (please try strawberry dessert wine-it probably goes great with cheesecake!), shopping, and fine dining and The Frisky Oyster ( I really freaking love the Frisky Oyster)...we didn't want to come back home.
  • i have blocked my facebook wall for fear that said-crazy person will tell people i'm pregnant
  • heard that another blizzard is coming (?!)...this is what the last one looked like:
my poor backyard- i thought these shots looked pretty cool. i should do a backyard post to show you what it looked like before we remodeled. What do you think?

So all in all...
i had a lovely weekend
drank my weight in wine
please note, that since i've boozed it up
i am *not pregnant*
but i guess stupid people
will think your pregnant
when you tell them not to do something
that you think is disrespectful to you.
i also think that stupid people
will accuse you of stupid things
when life starts treating you the way you want it
and they will assume that you are pregnant
so people could think you're an asshole
when you go out and have wine at a vineyard
or at dinner
or in front of the fireplace
or on vacations.

for the love of god.

thank you guys
for being my friends
:)

love,
mg

Ok- I'm a makeup addict

I am. The funny part is that I can't put eyeliner on- but if i COULD, I'd be a makeup artist or I'd have much brighter eyes in photos...

the makeup I purchased months ago is about to run out! Ahhhh...and though I am still sick at home, as per my wonderful LML's orders...it doesn't hurt to think about what I need to buy, right?

that's why I *need* your help. What kind of makeup works best for you- stays on, doesn't smell funny, would you run and go buy again? Everyone who knows me knows that usually all that remains of makeup that I own is a squeeze or scrap of lipgloss/stick. This usually lasts me until an emergency or I lose it (all the time, not making it up)

What I need? gloss, eyeshadow, bronzer or blush (?), moisturizer, brightener?
OOh also, hair stuff- anything for strange, curly haired folk that doesn't have too many chemicals??

I have my usual favorites in mind, but your opinions would help me out more :)

Much Love,
MG

I cracked, got Crocs

Dear Bloggie Friends:
I know they look atrocious, but they are really quite nice.
I bought us a pair of matching ones, got them at a good price!
We've used them in a lot of places, and as you can see...
When LML tripped, he did not fall to his knees
He rinsed them, in order to keep them clean
The strap around his foot, helped him keep his hands free :)

So thank you for going with us
on the many adventures we had.
We can't wait to take you with us again
for without you, our feet would be sad!

Love,
MG

Have Vs. Want

Dear BloggieFriends-

Have you ever walked around the house and realized that you WANT a lot more things than you have? Hopefully, you're human so you have :) Mine's kind of on the flip side right now, and LML and I have made it so we use practically everything in here and nothing goes to waste. I should have a working list of what I want and maybe need...but I have one off the top of my head of things I cannot have. Like:

Rugs in the bedroom
Carpeted Living Room
Mats in the kitchen
Mats in the entry way

Why. Why?

Because my assistant will pee on all of them. This is not to mention the...

Mats that his food used to go on
His doggie beds
Clothes that we do not donate in place of doggie beds cuz he'll pee on them too.

Thankfully, my assistant has never:

Chewed a shoe
Chewed on the furniture
Jumped up on anything because he just won't. He's chicken like his mama.
Defecated on anything...except the floor.

At least, with the peeing and pooping I have no idea how to get him out of it. He's almost 5 (!) so it's too late to train him like that, right? Not like he ever adhered to training when he was 8 months old. (Any tips would be much appreciated!)

(above is Mom-in Laws Puppy going to my Puppy's sleepy spot! Hers is the one with the blue tail :)

Looking forward to your comments,
MG

Antigua Marketplace

Have you ever...

Dear BloggieFriends:

Have you ever...ordered food on the internet? I've been hearing a lot about it recently and don't quite know how to feel. In the beginning, I thought that accomplishing your supermarket orders online was kind of weird...You know, websites like this. Now, one can order anything online (I guess if you are unable to leave the house or live in the boonies, this is a good thing)

Is it really fresh? Can you really trust meats and vegetables and sweets you can order online? It's not like they are local establishments and they are coming from about an hour away- I'm talking about Omaha Steaks from Omaha (don't you love that somehow Trump got involved in that? I can't stand him!) and Lobsters from Maine (really?)

(photo from here)

Have you ever ordered online before? Would you? Because...yikes! I never say never but right now I am highly unlikely to ever :) (unless of course, your opinions sway me!)

Love,
MG
