my roses have bloomed!
i am so happy
that the rosebushes in my front yard
and backyard!!
have bloomed...
though my yellow roses
were mauled by the heavy winds
us in new york had
a few weeks ago...
i know they're coming back
and i am so excited!!
hope you lucky gardeners out there
are having so much fun!!
the cats keep me from digging up my backyard
and planting beautiful treasures...
so i just let my backyard be...
so yay for roses!!

enhance your life: garden edition
have i told you about my best friend? she's got a complete green thumb and i love her.
that's not the only reason why, obviously. but i can stand and stare at her garden for hours.
if you look back to my 2009 blog posts, i used to garden.
that's before 2 cats moved into my backyard and had babies. now there's about 20 cats that live between my house and my neighbors' homes. so i can garden herbs or veggies, or any flowers that may be killed. but if i could garden, i would be in heaven.
and LML would have a serious issue when i'd get together with my bestie, sharing tips, flowers and plants!
here's to wishful thinking (hello, there's a blizzard out here) and some tips on maintaining your garden this year...
- mulch! organic, please: finely shredded leaves, bark or cocoa hulls to stop weeds from growing!
- perennial choices- make them. unless your gardening herbs or food, it's the best bet instead of re-buying the same things
- buy low water plants- succulents like aloe are great and so useful.
- if you want to plant more flowers, do it in containers. maybe this is what i should do to spite the cats.
- 10 minute gardening- if you're pressed for time, just do a little every day!
- dahlias
- hibiscus
- magnolia
- snapdragon
- iris
- geranium
what's in your yard?

picture shopping list
if i lived near a farm, or farmers market...
i would probably need a bigger house-
for canning, making beer, making wine,
canning sauces, freezing other food-stuffs,
and lots of room for entertaining...
and dining...
and board games (which i have been banned from playing with LML :)
happy monday!
love me,
the globetrotting gamine :)

I LOVE IT!
OK...it's called Planet Green on the Time Warner cable system.
I LOVE IT!
There's this show called Living with Ed
that I am now obsessed with
because it shows all the drama of being married
while being green :)
Ed is the dude who played in She-Devil,
with Roseanne and Meryl Streep.
So freaking hilarious.
About a half an hour after that's over
they show the worlds Greenest Homes
and I get insanely jealous at all the
amazing ideas and homes that
are featured.
You HAVE to check out this channel if you have it!
Love,

Order, order!
So, remember the government agency I went to in order to find an answer to my harassment case? Nada. Too late. Which leads me on to these next thoughts: should I really be busting my ass to pursue that field? Should I continue pursuing my business, which will be mine and mine alone?
Ya, I like the latter one, too! In the meantime, yesterday my close relative bought my LML a cigar back from her vacation in the DR...and I am hoping its still in my bag AND not smushed to bits. Oh, she also returned with a roll of toilet paper for me from the hotel. Swell, I needed one to leave in the car anyway- just in case of road-trip emergencies. I can't tell you how many bathrooms along miles of road don't have toilet paper- you try feeling crisp and clean without it. I'm not gonna even try!
Right now I am here:

Dreamin'
I love cupcakes. Did I ever tell you that? I have a very close relative that makes these heavenly treats, and who's promised to create unique ones for my birthday! Anyone who needs her to cater in the NY area, let me know...
A roaring fire, on a cold winters night= heaven. My puppy will make sure his bottom is near the fire for warmth, while me and LML sip hot chocolate with lots of marshmallows. I am still on the hunt for the ultimate hot chocolate recipe...with liquer or without ;)
Gerber daisies. Gardening. Obsession- this is one of my favorite flower photos...I have many!
My obsession list: traveling, stationery, lists, cooking, eating, fine dining, freebies :), the arts, wine, cigars, sweets!, tea, bubble tea, television, shows that are 'real' like married with children, the jeffersons, all in the family, beach days, winter vacations, puppies, kids, bunnies, notebooks, colored pens, painting, drawing, writing, reading, endless hours at barnes and noble, museums, libraries, shopping, Susan Branch, stories of inspirational women, Godiva Chocolates, the smell of books, shopping, creating, organizing, etc.
Today, I want to apply to at least one course which will let me indulge one of my obsessions in a more reasonable manner than shopping. LML has purchased a new wardrobe for me this weekend, so there is no immediate, thirsty need for shopping.
Unless I buy an agenda book ;)
Blessed be!

Gardening & Banter
It's a new love of mine, at least one year old (since I've been unemployed actually, I figured it better to tend the earth than waste away...)
I've planted lavender, roses, different kinds of salvia, lambs ear, and over 20 different kinds of trees. The trees were my husband's idea, as he apparently fell into the same obsession I did.
The only thing is that now, there's no more room to plant anything back there, and I want an herb garden! Waa...I do have basil growing, which is great and drying right now. I'd love ideas on what I could do now that it seems there is no room!
On a funnier note: turns out a relative got kicked in the ass because her favorite [ahem] younger relative who she always bragged about had the most horrible wedding. I don't wish bad things on anyone, but all I've hear for years is how this younger relative could do no wrong. Do you know what it's like to hear that non-stop?! Anyway, at least it's ammo for me to use against that older relative- one day.
I treated my nephew to sushi today, and spent a whopping 26 of my 60 a week budget. I'm very perturbed.
12 left, 26 for sushi, 20 on gas, yeah that about covers it.
I heard from my wonderfully interesting friends that Mercury is in retrograde, and it better end soon because everything is up in the air and no results are ever given back to me. This must be the reason I went on a baking rampage today. Cornbread was given to a good friend who gave us tomatoes in turn, and a banana-peanut butter bread was baked for my husband, who will from now on be called LML (Love of My Life).
So wouldn't it have been nice to already HAVE tomatoes in my yard? I may just do it by myself next year on purpose. Right now, if I actually get up to go outside, I will get bitten by the biggest mosquitoes in the world. If one would see my bites, they would think I live in a swamp. True story.
Labor Day weekend is coming up and there's only a few things I want to do: wine taste, eat, and go to fruit stands. Is that too much to ask?
