dear honduras

Honduras Checklist:
  • sight-see
  • take pictures
  • go to the best beach
  • talk to the locals to find out where to go for lunch
  • go to lunch and eat something new and crazy
  • so there we were: roatan, honduras. we were on an adventure, exploring everything we possibly could and having so much fun...
then we had to battle itty bitty sand flies on the beach so i wrapped myself up like a mummy while LML sought solace in the sea.

of course, we find out that the locals swore by this place, so we chose to have a yummy lunch of:
rice
beans
plantains
local beer (holy moly, that beer pictured below is awesome)
and iguana.

yes, iguana.

pictures below of our meal with a friend...

though it sounds creepy and weird...
it really wasn't- it was quite good.

this deters a little from our nightly vegetarian feasts we usually prepare back home
but everyone needs to come out of their comfort zone somehow and
we are so glad we did.

here's to good food and good friends ;)

a life lesson at 30

the one most important thing i've learned in the 30 years i've been around?

don't be afraid to go out and *live!

12.11.2011

wish i was here!

(shot by me. somewhere in the world.)

have a wonderful
colorful
productive
or
relaxing day!!

love the hermit crabs

we've hit a lot of places on this
teeny earth of ours--
and on the island of bonaire
as i prepared to go for a swim...
i almost squashed these guys!

i saved their lives
but wanted to snap some pictures
before they hit the road :)

i love them.

aruba, my love!

things i loved about aruba...
  • crystal blue waters
  • everything in walking distance (at least where the hotels are)
  • super friendly people
  • super friendly cactii
  • the fact that when you're swimming, you can dig up a huge shell with your big toe. (thanks, LML!)
  • not so crazy waves
  • beautiful architecture!
  • marketplace
  • happy hour, everyday no matter what!
take me back to aruba!

love me,
the globetrotting gamine

aruba visions

tiny jail in the middle of nowhere...

big boulder- no one knows where it came from
but it is assumed that this area was once underwater

LML, very hot (and muy caliente!) in front of the boulders

exploring aruba is wonderful
i highly recommend it!!

the eliot hotel

first off,
let me say that the eliot hotel in boston
is awesome like you have no idea.
this is what the room my girlfriends and i stayed in...

we learned a few things about each other when we were there:
  • vegging out in front of the tv with a glass of wine is as much fun as going out for thai food
  • that we can laugh and have fun...and not scare each other silly
  • that i sleep with a pillow on top of my body when I am NOT with LML or my puppy.
  • that one of us walks into walls
  • and one of us needs to have the bed fixed at all times.
  • we're clean freaks
  • we like going to sleep at a reasonable hour.
  • food, wine, exploring, photography? check check, check check.
i love them so <3

big love to my friends and the crew at the eliot hotel. you guys are "da bomb". hee hee

love!

For an almost- complete around the world beer list, go here!

There is nothing stopping you from trying everything you'd like--
for us, one of those things that we enjoy doing while traveling is enjoying culinary treasures (so that I can re-create, or attempt to, back in New York)
and sampling wines, beers, and other local beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic!)

Above are some of my shots...
in no order--
and some sideways (sorry! i did not participate
in the drinking of these beers whilst posting)

We have tried quite a few beers from almost everywhere-- can't get enough!

Any beer stories? Please post and I will credit and linky you!

love!

a writer in salem

as a writer, i was so excited to go see nataniel hawthorne's house...
it had been moved to the property on which the house of seven gables stands.

um- can we say awesome?

there are so many stories attached to the house of seven gables that it would be best for you to go there and hear them for yourself.

i won't say much just in case  you will make the journey there...it's a lot more interesting when you're standing in it (you can't take photos inside) and experiencing it for yourself.

my travel besties and i had an awesome time there- we probably could have spend the entire day exploring the grounds more intricately...

oh, and be careful going up the secret staircase ;)

you definitely need about 2 and a half to three days to see everything on your Salem to-do list.

if you have any stories, i would love to hear.
i'll post 'em.

love me,
the globetrotting gamine

Salem Visions

this is what we saw upon arrival to Salem.
more specifically, what i was able to see having popped
some dramamine on the bus ride over.

i am a very, very bad backseat driver.

all in all, i've discovered that salem would be the perfect place
for me to live
had i a choice ;)

sigh-

wouldn't you know it?
our last day--our last hours-- in bermuda,
and we stumble upon this beach.

so now we have to go back
and swim in it.

happy day to you!

you really can't beat the pink sand backdropped against the blue of that water...

car/taxi photography:: bermuda by christina rozeas

so i take a lot of pictures...whenever i am in the car on my way to someplace...
i call it car photography.
but seriously...

have you ever seen water that color?
heavenly.

what i learned in bermuda...

(these are more photos i took in bermuda...)

i learned that...
there is beauty in everything
and that even though you may stop to take pictures once in a while
to capture the beauty...
it's always wiser
to take it all in and try to memorize
the sights, sounds, smells...
the way the building feel
and the way the flowers look and smell...

holding on to a memory
can be as simple as that.

the globetrotting gamine
