more ch-ch-ch-changes

(this was taken 1.13.13- about a month after we shaved it all off. now, i have renegade hairspikes and it's growing in slooooowly. gosh darned chemo.)

cancer sucks ass. isn't life crazy? it seems that when it has just about kicked you into oblivion, it turns around and opens your eyes to more opportunities, and eye openers like never before.

dear universe, i've been listening. i know i should have spent more time out of the house and out of the gym. i'm excited about my upcoming 2nd chance at life and ready to totally do things differently- again. i've also learned, or re-learned, that one is ever-evolving and ever-learning and that love is the only thing that makes the world go round. i've learned, despite what's happened, that i love my body and must do whatever i have to do to protect it. the family and friends who constantly check up on me- i've always known that they were the real 'thang' and still so, so thankful to have such thoughtful, happy and beautiful people in my life.

things i'm so excited to do:

  • more time with family (incl. LML, nieces, nephews, parentals, sisters, etc.)
  • movies, especially beautiful creatures, despicable me 2, and watching breaking dawn 2 with my daddy!
  • get a manicure and pedicure- finallyyyy (with nail polish from whole foods i'm kinda excited about)
  • going back to work (i.e. books, magazine...)
  • vacation, all i ever wanted...
  • to do lists of things to do--issues, yes, I gots 'em!

with the upcoming blizzard, i've visited some stores and the library in preparation. we are almost good to go. movies, candles, food, books- check.
with chemo coming up this week, i know i'll be getting in a lot of sleep so i know i'll dream up more opportunities and projects to keep myself busy.

hope no one gets hit hard with the nasty weather, and stay warm, happy and toasty!

love me,
the globetrotting gamine

oh, harvey

to start, i would like to say how amazing my friends are.
old and new have given me so many smiles, laughs, hugs and more that i am truly thankful
for each and every one of them.

over the summer, some of us trekked on over to the roundabout theater
in manhattan
to watch Harvey.

so my first reaction?
Sheldon, sheldon, omg!!

(Side note: I love TBBT. I love Sheldon. I wish I could have hugged him because i do think he is so awesome and he makes me quite happy)

the show was
epic.

i was actually busting a gut laughing in the audience
and was happy that
i didn't research the story line itself.

if you can see the show-
see the preview with James Stewart-
watch The Big Bang Theory.

so
much
awesomeness

and i will truly never forget it!

love,
the globetrotting gamine

movie madness

In December, LML and I were away.
I'll admit- when we're away, we don't tend to say we are.
I like my private life- just that way. private.

So, while we were on holiday, on a beach somewhere...
we made a list of all these movies we'd have to catch once being home for a while.

(and duh- i always travel with more than one notebook and oodles of pens)

my list look something liked this....

  1. Larry Crowne
  2. The Help
  3. Super 8
  4. Midnight in Paris
  5. Crazy Stupid Love
  6. Secretariat
  7. Water for Elephants
  8. all the Paranormal Activities

  16. Black Swan
  17. How do you know
  18. Hangover 2
  19. The Rite
  20. The Roomate
  21. Just go with it
  22. Unknown
  23. Hall Pass
  24. Adjustment Bureau
  25. 50/50
  26. In Time
  27. Tower Heist
  28. J. Edgar
  29. Immortals
  30. Jack and Jill
  31. Descendants
  32. Hugo
  33. Week with Marilyn
  34. Beastly
  35. Paul
  36. Red Riding Hood
  37. Bridesmaids
  38. Art of Getting By
  39. Bad Teacher
  40. One Day
  41. Horrible Bosses
  42. Dream House
  43. Our Idiot Brother
  44. Don't be afraid of the Dark
  45. I don't know how she does it
  46. Let me in
Obviously, we've been away and busy in the last two years.
The chunk of time that we've been stationed in one locale, we've adjusted the list a few times.
Now, it looks like this...

  1. Larry Crowne
  2. The Help
  3. Super 8
  4. Midnight in Paris
  5. Crazy Stupid Love
  6. Secretariat
  7. Water for Elephants
  8. all the Paranormal Activities
  9. Eat Pray Love (again)
  10. Hot Tub Time Machine
  11. Take me home tonight
  12. Dinner for Schmucks (I'm sure I didn't spell this correctly)
  13. Life as we Know it
  14. My soul to take
  15. Morning Glory
  16. Black Swan
  17. How do you know
  18. Hangover 2
  19. The Rite
  20. The Roomate
  21. Just go with it
  22. Unknown
  23. Hall Pass
  24. Adjustment Bureau
  25. 50/50
  26. In Time
  27. Tower Heist
  28. J. Edgar
  29. Immortals
  30. Jack and Jill
  31. Descendants
  32. Hugo
  33. Week with Marilyn
  34. Beastly
  35. Paul
  36. Red Riding Hood
  37. Bridesmaids
  38. Art of Getting By
  39. Bad Teacher
  40. One Day
  41. Horrible Bosses
  42. Dream House
  43. Our Idiot Brother
  44. Don't be afraid of the Dark
  45. I don't know how she does it
  46. Let me in

Here's the math...

The price of a movie in New York is approximately $10 (and I'm being nice).
Together, if we'd gone to see every movie on this list, we'd have spend over $900. (um, holy crap?)
That's a whole vacation (or more than one vaca, depending where you're spending it) for two!

Since we've been back, we've accomplished 21 movies on this list- roughly.
That's still $420 dollars saved.
We've seen all these movies in the last few months at the expense of the wonderful people over at our present 'cable company'...which is not time warner, cuz they blew chunks.

Our favorites out of these 21 movies:
  1. Hangover 2
  2. Paul
  3. Hot tub time machine
  4. bridesmaids
As I'm a girl, to my list I'm adding:

5. The Help (which was "OK" to LML but "Boring.")
6. Midnight in Paris (which was about the plight of a writer--LML understands me, but not other writers. LOL)
7. Jack and Jill (I love Adam Sandler...LML chuckles at a few lines. I would love Adam Sandlers career- so I always closely pay attention.)

Thus concludes our list of movie madness so far. Help us add to it :) e-mail  me at whosthatgamine@gmail.com

quote saturday

quote taken from twilight: eclipse

“This wasn’t a choice between you and Jacob—it was a choice between who I should be and who I am. I’ve always felt out of step—like, literally stumbling through my life—I’ve never felt normal, because I’m not normal. I don’t want to be. I’ve had to face death, and loss, and pain in your world but I’ve also never felt stronger—like, more real; more myself—because it’s my world, too. It’s where I belong.”

'cuz that's how i felt before i got married, too ;)

good monday to you :)

and a Happy November to all!

How was your Halloween weekend?
Did anything fun or interesting happen?

I spent the weekend with many loved ones
having delicious dinners, a cigar or two,
lovely apple cider (yum!)
in front of a roaring fireplace.

Watching black and white scary movies,
curled up with my assistant
and discovering new ideas for books i've yet to complete.

friends should be the icing on the cake that is your life.

and mine are.

i am incredibly blessed and i wouldn't change my life for anything in the world.
my mama was right about so many things...
do you ever come to that realization at the oddest moments?

like, wtf?!...oh WAIT A MINUTE...
my mom said this was bound to happen.
duh.

so we spend some time together, and made our plans for the week.
so now i have to go run some errands so i can conquer the world!

what is on your agenda this week?!

love to you, my bloggie friends

love me!

Travel Style: Indiana Jones

Hi Bloggie Friends:

How are you? I hope you don't mind my thousand posts today- truth be told, I have been backed up! I am looking forward to reading what has been going on in your worlds...and speaking of worlds: it got me thinking.

If I wasn't home, I'd be travelling- and if I could have any job, it would have to involve travel.

The Indiana Jones movies are a DVD set that I've yet to require. LML and I own an interesting collection of movies, yet that set has never battled its way in.

Why I want the DVD set? To re-familiarize myself with the movie, dream bigger...and oh YEAH!

The clothes:

one of the most interesting characters...
but not the most interesting man in the world...

to me, that's this guy:

happy monday!

home sweet home...it's just in the wrong place! i am sitting at my kitchen table, sipping my dunkin donuts coffee and reeling from this past weekend.

of course, leave it to me to order the weirdest movie in the world to start off my day.
what's this movie called? time travel. i think. it's pretty recent- and it's got the feel of Shaun of the Dead.

I freaking love Shaun of the Dead!
i am watching this movie to have something else to think about later...

after i take my nephew to watch the last exorcism.
after i go wee wee wee all the way home after watching the last exorcism.

I was speaking with one of my besties, and we've come to the conclusion that we like to stay warm and toasty during the winter, and spend allllll summer out and about. And somehow, we are incessantly hungry all summer long and barely eat in the winter.

isn't it supposed to be the other way around?

here are some pictures from...i don't know.
let's see what i got...

ah! here's one of the guys, smoking their cigars out in Vineyard 48!

i love love love the vineyards...

so this past weekend...

  • we went back to a yummy restaurant that i will post about later...and ended the night off at our favorite hangout.
  • we watched some crazy thing on tv about cutlery and bamboo sticks.
  • we headed out early after dropping off the puppiness to my wonderful nephew...to the island.
  • we trampled all over the vineyards: Vineyard 48, Pugliese Vineyards, Sherwood House Vineyards and Macari! ( i love them all)
  • drank a lot of wine...
  • ate at...another restaurant i will post about later.
  • oh yeah! had picnics at the vineyards!
  • missed some friends who couldn't make it out there with us this time; but have a fun filled schedule til the winter!
i do have more pics to post, so heads up!

what did you do this weekend?

love me,
the globetrotting gamine <3

teen witch remake?!

aaahhhh!!

i'm at the bookstore, yesterday after the gym.
i let my mind go blank and write and write before i pick up any magazine.

i am so glad i picked up the magazine! they are remaking one of my favorite flicks: Teen Witch!

ok ok, so I know that many of you have no idea what I'm talking about. I also know that many of you are wondering why the hell I'd be interested in a remake... I don't know how great the acting skills of Ashley Tisdale are but...

i remember watching this movie with my v. good friends...one of them being eatsgrass...on a lazy saturday afternoon during junior high school...or maybe it was high school? i can't believe it will be coming back when we're all married...our good friend also has a baby!

isnt't it amazing how life is constantly changing, but never changing?

i can't waittttttttt!

i hope i'm not travelling when this comes out!

love,
gg

About Love...

Henry: How do you do it?

Danielle: What?

Henry: Live each day with this kind of passion. Don't you find it exhausting?

Danielle: Only when I am around you. Why do you like to irritate me so?

Henry: Why do you rise to the occasion?

8 crazy nights

Ok. I'm watching the ending (I assume) of 8 crazy nights, the animated Hanukkah movie by Adam Sandler...and I'm very upset. That poor little old man :( What happens?!

So sad. Nasty Adam Sandler character.

Update: I feel better. Now I get it :)

Movie Fun: Definitely, Maybe

Definitely, Maybe came out in 2008. LML and I were going through many rough patches then with all of our responsibilities, so 2008 was a time when I barely trekked to the movie theaters...I did only with my friends from work. Falling asleep during 10,000 BC is a memory that will stick out in my mind forever. That's why I'm wondering where I was when Definitely, Maybe came out.

Ryan Reynolds plays a father telling his 'love story' to his daughter. Catch: There were 3 women in his life, and names have been altered, so he won't tell his daughter which one her Mom is.

I have been attempting to finish this movie since it came out on cable. 2 days ago, I finally did! OH yay!! Isla Fischer is beyond a goddess in this film, and thank goodness it was a good cast...very few people can make it more entertaining than Isla, Ryan and Rachel Weisz in my book.

If you haven't seen this movie, youmust!! Especially during the holidays...I don't know why, but it's mushy enough :)

11.05.2009

Cinema!

Oh yay! Oh yay! Two great movies are coming out that I CANNOT wait for! I looked for the trailers while snuggling in my big, pink & fuzzy robe (not very sexy right now, I assure you)

First one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mt-l1liNjk0

Yay Meryl Streep!

Second one:

Yay Sandra Bullock!

And the one movie, I would never, ever see! 2012! Seriously, why does the world have to end every other year since the beginning of time? Get over it, people.

a new day, a new life

(that's baby me.)

There's a lot of things that you should know about me. My name, where I'm from, etc. but...
I'm not going to get into specific details- it'll be more mysterious that way, and these days people need a mystery.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am currently living in New York and am unemployed. Isn't that shocking? Fine, I'll spare you my weak attempt at a joke. This economy is just not funny. I do a lot to fill out my day, as I am a complete DIY woman who is married and always in the middle of 100 projects.

Literally. 100.

I have a lot of likes and dislikes and I know it's not easy to start a blog when people know you. I love to write, cook, craft, photograph events or just anything, scrapbook...so I discovered blogging as a way I can do all three :)

Believe me, my life? It's not boring. I do A LOT during the day.

I have a passion for books, the arts, reasearching and learning. Eating and Cooking, Cinema, Languages, Fashion, and especially Travel. I love learning about psychology and nutrition and things to do around New York or anywhere for free or close to it

(re: UNEMPLOYED)

Yep.
Unemployed writer living in New York.
How cliche is *that*?

I know a lot of people, been in a lot of situations and am not afraid to divulge.

*Ha.*

Today I will be baking banana bread and popping my okra in the oven before it gets warmer out- I woke up to a lovely fall-like day.

Thank you for joining me on my crazy journey through my life, and blogging :)

love me,
the globetrotting gamine
