Reflections '09/'10

A lot of people write reflections down... I don't know if I ever really have and I'm a journal/scrapbooking/list kind of a girl.

So I'm going to take a hint from the inspirational loves and put everything into words. I am sorry if I am driving you crazy, but am so thankful that you've visited. Please note, that if there is an old post you'd like to comment on, I will NOT think that you are crazy. I love comments :)

2009:
  • I began my blog in August.
  • Realizing, once again and on a daily basis, that I love LML more and more
  • In January: We spent New Year's with my family- it was the coldest day ever! Anyone remember that? Many diner trips, my niece's 19th birthday at homeand at a hookah lounge, our first time ever in Montreal, hanging out with friends
  • February/March: hanging out with friends even MORE, 10 year reunion (don't remind me!), weekend getaways with the best people in the world!, first time ever in the Dominican Republic!
  • April/May/June: working on beautifying our backyard, planting tulips, multiple Home Depot and Garden Shoppe runs, planting trees and other flowers. We have planted over 30 species last year alone! Boy, the yard was empty. Atlantic City Trips
  • realizing that writing and publishing my books were my only focus besides family, responsibilities, and gardening was a freeing experience
  • helping out someone, only to let the outcome of the situation turn to crap because they suck: i.e. see crazy people posts.
  • cooking and baking different things!
  • my good friends having their baby!
  • celebrating successes

2010:
  • pursuing our dreams
  • realizing that people will "show their ass" if you're happy and they're not
  • realizing that some people will only care about you if you are miserable
  • wondering what to do about said people
  • taking time out for ourselves and our families
  • wanting to change our lives, getting rid of all negative energies.
Ya. That about sums it up for now!

Oh, Montreal!

Even though LML and friends and I saw more of Montreal this year than last year- I still picked up pamphlets of the places I'd like to go. The city is just so fascinating! The following excerpt is from the Marche Bonsecours (350, rue Saint-Paul Est, Old Montreal) pamphlet:

"The Bonsecours Market building, with its breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence River and the Quays of the Old Port, is recognized as one of Canada's 10 most beautiful heritage buildings. This superb edifice was inaugurated in 1847, serving as parliament of the United Canada in 1849, and Montreal's City Hall from 1852 to 1878, followed by a century as the city's main public market. For the past ten years, the fully restored building has housed boutiques featuring Quebec designers' and artisans' wares, cafe-restaurants with patio dining, and several splendid reception halls available for rental for public or private events."

Check the rest out at this site. Hope you like it and you get to visit!

Chinese Food

I have been to quite a few places for Chinese Food. It's not an obsession of mine- but I've started to enjoy it considerably more as I've gotten older. Since I have had it in NY, Greece, Guatemala and now Montreal... I can't figure out which place I like best...but they were all amazing. I wish I could write to you about the ones in Greece- but I was much younger, don't have a name, and if I did it may be defunct. The one I've enjoyed recently was...

Le Gourmet Hot & Spicy

Holy Crap. For a small fee, you get to sit down and order whatever you want off the menus. This is what we ordered:

And the staff.was. PHENOMENAL. My friends drove them crazy and anyone else would have looked at them like they had 3 heads.

You don't want to know. If you do, let ME know and I will post about them. Yipe.

Not only did they NOT look at them like they had three heads- but they kept the sake coming and will remember them forever!

I must contact them and thank them for not throwing us out on the street!

Much Love,
MG

To Travel- Breakfast

Dear bloggie friends-

You all live everywhere in the world and I envy you :) There is a lot of things that I discovered thus far this month but one of them is...

If you are on vacation- you're most likely going to eat breakfast.

I do not know why that is. For me, at least- when I am home I am most likely going to have my coffee and possibly a granola bar, but that's it. There are the days when I will get peckish and order an egg white sandwich from somewhere, or on the weekends...but on vacation? Geez- I have probably just gained weight from eating tamales, plantains and eggs in Guatemala, and bagels in Montreal.

Ah. Bagels with lox and cream cheese. Bagel Sandwiches. Egg Sandwiches...this is from one memorable breakfast :)

Thank goodness we had workouts to go through in Montreal.

Do you find that this happens to  you? What is it that you enjoy for breakfast? I know I could be the only crazy loon out there with this theory :)

Love, MG
