why, hello monday

i thought i was going to be sneaky this morning and sleep in past 6:30 am.

i didn't.

instead i got up, paid some bills, started the laundry and ran various errands and chores until i settled down to scrapbooking...which i am pretty sure i was supposed to have completed with my january list. due to the snow, a lot of the time we couldn't get to buy our organization supplies (like the photo albums that i needed).

when i picked up a photo album this weekend...

isn't it pretty?

i had to delve into my photo storage box...

(which, as you can see, was packed to the brim)

and enter 200 photos into the album. after all photos were entered into that album,
this is what my photo box looked like:

SO much more to put in albums AND i received another
bunch of prints i got for free in the mail.

yeesh.

i'm thinking another 2-3 more photo albums would do the job.
what do you think?

pup thinks that my time would be better spent making him more chicken.
he eats like a hound dog lately! nutty.

i am off to complete some more errands and chores before LML comes home.
he apparently is feeling the urge to cook dinner,
which is a welcome treat for me since i am feeling the urge to clean and organize.

stay tuned for my scrapbook post
and thank you for reading my blog :)

cue the music!

hi and welcome bloggie friends:

i apologize that my thoughts are all over the place. it's the first of the month, after all. i have to get my mind in order for what is to come! i always try to bring you original blogs- i am an extremely organized person but i don't want my blog/ blog articles mirroring other great blogs.

that's just me.

this month, me and a certain special someone celebrate- HIS BIRTHDAY! LML and I have been celebrating his birthday together for as far back as I can remember. He is extremely laid back (like me!), not a partyer, and wants to do what he wants to do...like me! lol

Hopefully, this year we'll have thawed out a little by the time his big day rolls around. We already celebrated my wonderful Puppy's birthday on the 29th! He's 6! And a sleepy 6 year old at that, he's been sleeping all day without not even a glance at his chicken.

My day has consisted of dancing, writing, and organizing what's left of my paperwork compilation. My January List (you can click the label on the sidebar) is all done, though i will be transferring the 'because of weather' incomplete items here...so here's my February list!

YAY:

  • finish writing two of my novels
  • finish illustrations for my second children's book
  • stay in touch
  • spread joy
  • say i love you more
  • 20 minute activity three times a week
  • wash windows
  • wash walls
  • clean  grout
  • scour pots and pans
  • polish wood
  • research my spring activities
  • donate, donate
  • cook/bake new things (this is where 'the kind diet' resolution comes in)
  • begin making appointments for activities in springtime (march and on)
i feel as if everything is do-able. except maybe the first item- which i have begun working on today.

i'm very excited!!

if you have any ideas/ questions or anything you'd like to share- don't be shy! i love hearing from you all <3

love me,
the globetrotting gamine with the sleepy assistant

productive day!

good news: i have been uber-productive today! i am so excited that i got everything i set out to do, done!

that's what a snow day (again!) is good for!

bad news: well, i can't tell you the bad news- but it's not mine! lol

this weekend will find me and LML snow-shoeing to get our errands done, since our predicted 8 inches last night turned into a magical 16-18 in new york city! do you believe this?

ick. slushy, soon to be dirty snow. it only stays pretty for so long.

today, i officially opened my etsy shop. it's not complete yet, but you'll notice a link on my sidebar to the left :)

i marked quite a few things off of my master to do list that i don't even have listed on my january list!

other than that- how are you guys doing? anything new?
i wish i had something more new to share with you.

i have been cooking the same old things :)
oh, yesterday morning i went out before the snow hit (but i think i told you guys that)
and i've been working on my other manuscripts/illustrations.

i
am
exhausted!

please share with me anything fun- y'all make me happy <3

love me,
the globetrotting gamine

update to my january list

good afternoon, bloggie friends,

this new snow storm, i have to tell you, first did not find me so well. frustrated, i visited the dollar store and target in the snow to pick up the necessary supplies that would push me further towards cabin fever.

then, the snow storm shook my mind straight.
i had more time to accomplish everything on my january to do list!
this is an extremely good thing...i haven't checked my progress yet, so i decided to look over it with you.

now, i know #1 is far from done, but since i published three books this month, i am content :)
without further adieu...

here's the list and my updates...

*edit and complete all stories and novels- working on the 2nd children's book illustrations.

*illustrate children's stories- almost there!

*clean out the house of negative stuff-  2 more items to get rid of and...done!

*clean out un-necessary clutter- i have yet to get under the beds (to my storage bins) but i have 5 more days! i may put up some books for sale and start an etsy shop! ideas?

*take all loose photos and put them in album- i have entered photos into 2 albums and i need more albums! i will hunt for them this weekend.

*complete all scrapbooks, unfinished or untouched- haven't gotten to this list item yet, but have organized scrapbook stuff into one drawer. it's ready to go!

*print out what needs to get printed out on this computer- all done!

*delete un-needed files from computer- all done!

*upload all photos into usb disc AND photo programs - i should be buying 2 more usb discs this weekend! (other than that, all three usb discs crammed with files!) hey, how do you store files? i would love to hear your ideas!

*select photos to be printed- one item done, and another set to be printed!

*get them printed (and repeat above)- ditto.

*finish reading all books left before i buy or pick up a new one- i am reading the books on my sidebar, and i have 27 books to read that i am quite excited about. i will be working on them this year. i have started with Helen Keller's The Story of My Life. i have always been fascinated with her and her Ms. Sullivan.

*call church to pick up clothes for donation- all done!
*go through and complete everything on my to-do list, which has come down considerably in the last two days. I am VERY excited about this.- now i accomplish a daily to do list and it works out so great! i have knocked so many items off of my 'master' to do list that this was the only solution

*send out those packages! - its too cold to be out for too long, but as soon as it gets warmer, i am on it!

*make those appointments (snow keeps stopping me from doing this)- still being stopped :/

*start book club- that's going to happen by february 1st!

*organize all files/bills - all done!

*make a list of places from here to long island i'd like to see- i have and i think i may have blogged it! if not, i will blog it soon!
*make my new years resolutions- ahhh that's going to be a long list! better get crackin' on it.

this is my first year experimenting with a monthly to do list. i quite like it!

please feel free to send me any organizational hints or motivations you may have- you guys are inspiring!

thank you for following my blog and keeping me and my progress in check <3

love me,
the globetrotting gamine
(who would rather be globetrotting like she was less than 2 months ago than be stuck in the snow)

my january list update

so it's sunday, and i am home sick like no one's business.
it is supposed to be dropped to 7 degrees in New York tonight- egads- and i am worried i am going to get so much sicker.
i keep having to check the boiler to see if it's working and has enough water pumping through it, and i'm afraid if i nap it won't help me.
so pup and LML are taking a nap for me while watching the married with children marathon.

i figured that i'll be stuck at home at least for a couple of days this week, because it's going to snow- again!
so here's the perfect time to update my January List/Project...

so here's the list and my updates...

edit and complete all stories and novels- i have finished and published my big manuscript (send me a private message about it here if you'd like), my first children's book, and as of right now I am illustrating my second children's book. i worked on my writing portfolio and it's in perfect order ~:)

illustrate children's stories (for my nephew) - working on second book and there's so many more that i should inspire myself by taking a drawing class.

clean out the house of negative stuff- i have some more things to go through and throw away but i have done so much! i am quite pleased with what i've accomplished with this list item.

clean it out of un-necessary clutter- garbage bag upon garbage bag have been thrown away and there are so many more waiting to be packed. so exciting to know you're going to start off on a clean slate.

take all loose photos and put them in album- i have entered photos into 2 albums and i need more albums! lol

complete all scrapbooks, unfinished or untouched- haven't gotten to this list item yet, but have organized scrapbook stuff into one drawer. it's ready to go!

print out what needs to get printed out on this computer- that's my tomorrow morning task and it will be complete by lunchtime, though i have done a lot of that this week!

delete un-needed files from computer- i did that with the documents file and have organized them into folders as well. progress!

upload all photos into usb disc AND photo programs - i should be getting this done this week

select photos to be printed- this list item might be the most difficult because i have so much else to do, but i do have until the end of the month!

get them printed (and repeat above)- ditto.

finish reading all books left before i buy or pick up a new one- i am reading the books on my sidebar, and i have 27 books to read that i am quite excited about. i will be working on them this year.

call church to pick up clothes for donation- my niece decided to pool our clothing donations for the salvation army...check!

go through and complete everything on my to-do list, which has come down considerably in the last two days. I am VERY excited about this.- now i accomplish a daily to do list and it works out so great! i have knocked so many items off of my 'master' to do list that this was the only solution

send out those packages! - its too cold to be out for too long, but as soon as it gets warmer, i am on it!

make those appointments (snow keeps stopping me from doing this)- still being stopped :/

start book club- that's going to happen by february 1st!

organize all files/bills - i can't tell you how cathartic it was to do this but i am not done with this list item yet. i felt so productive tackling one drawer the other day that i treated myself to a cookie.

seriously.

make a list of places from here to long island i'd like to see- i have and i think i may have blogged it! if not, i will blog it soon!

make my new years resolutions- ahhh that's going to be a long list! better get crackin' on it.

despite-

dear bloggie friends:

hi :)
writing to you is one of my joys this morning. the weather is dark and gloomy (and icy!) outside here in New York and it's allowing me to accomplish things i want to do today (see what i'm talking about here).

blogging gives me a sense of accomplishment- i record my thoughts and ideas
my inspirations and dreams
and hopefully i inspire others
to do the same.

life is too short to not do something you've always wanted to do.
so if you're stuck at home and can't do it- research it! read about it :)

if you are able to do something while you're stuck at home-
do it and post the progress on your blog!

it's your personal space to do with what you will...
this just excites me.

today i will be tackling "my goal for yesterday" (i.e., manuscript)
and cleaning my office,
and creating a planner (if I have all the right tools)

wondering if i'll have time to do it all and
squeeze some scrapbooking in, too!

what's your favorite thing to do when you're stuck at home?
i would love to know- you all inspire me so much :)

love me,
the globetrotting gamine

today's stuff

as i sit here, i am wondering...
what have i gotten myself into?

my january list is unbelievable and i have not even scratched the surface!
remember these?:

the list goes as follows:

  • edit and complete all stories and novels
in the past 10 days, i've published two novels and am diligently working on my third that apparently has a mind of it's own.
  • illustrate children's stories (for my nephew)
so it's one down, and about 7 to go to illustrate. i purchased the supplies, but have not begun yet.
  • clean out the house of negative stuff
i did that monday through yesterday. i can honestly say that i have been writing and idea mapping all day long.
  • clean it out of un-necessary clutter
same as above
  • take all loose photos and put them in album
i did this yesterday- i found one album that was unused and filled it with loose photos and put it away in its place. however, there is a box of photos that i have yet to attack.
  • complete all scrapbooks, unfinished or untouched
and they will remain untouched until this book is finished.
  • print out what needs to get printed out on this computer
can't do that yet, and it's what i want to do the most!
  • delete un-needed files from computer
have to do that!
  • upload all photos into usb disc AND photo programs
ugh the list gets longer!
  • select photos to be printed
not yet
  • get them printed (and repeat above)
not yet
  • finish reading all books left before i buy or pick up a new one
have them in a pile but have not tackled yet.
  • call church to pick up clothes for donation
that's a pile that just gets bigger
  • go through and complete everything on my to-do list, which has come down considerably in the last two days. I am VERY excited about this.
it's coming down slowly but surely!
  • send out those packages!
ugh...
  • make those appointments (snow keeps stopping me from doing this)
ugh!
  • start book club
triple ugh! maybe at the end of the month!
  • organize all files/bills
i think i'm hitting the office tomorrow
  • make a list of places from here to long island i'd like to see
i did that AND blogged it, but have new items to add!
  • make my new years resolutions

p-shaw! maybe i can finish the book first!

seriously, this is what my office looks like:
that's a close up of my desk. i need to put up that photo in a frame and bring down that pile to the left of the photo. it's a hot mess. in there is some scrapbooks of sorts and stuff i need to scrapbook with, as well as the templates i'll be using to illustrate my next children's book.

ah, wide view of the office. let's start with the posters to the left of the desk...
they will be getting put on a bulletin board when i get to it.
then, on my chair there, is the other pile of stuff i will be working on.
that's 3 scrapbooks, a book i am interested in writing and publishing that's pretty much done,
and magazines to read.

to the right of my desk? that's the cabinet that i'm working on crafting. it's not completely done yet.
it's on my list of things to finish.
those 2 bags in the bottom half of it have items to BLOG! in it.
that's a crap-load of information about travel and if anything-
i'd like to share various kinds of information i find interesting
that may help you guys out a little.

i like to weed out magazines and save the interesting stuff!

ugh.
after i'm done with this editing and publishing book, i have no idea where to begin.

ideas?
(and thanks to all who listened to me vent <3)

my january list- part one

if you go back to this post, you will read my list of goals for the month of january.
here's what i've done so far in respects to:

  • clean out the house of negative stuff
  • clean it out of un-necessary clutter
  •  add all articles to blog i thought were interesting (and hopefully you will, too)
  • add to blog list of items i wanted to blog about
i think i accomplished SO MUCH so far this week. here's what happened monday and tuesday, aside from writing and research...

i took down the christmas tree, and put all ornaments in the ornament organizer.

i cleaned out and purged things from this spot in my kitchen
(sorry, i don't have photos of the before )

i cleaned out my closet and drawers...i didn't organize it yet
the picture above my closet shot are the items going to donations at the church.

cleaned and cleaned out
the freezer and refrigerator
do you see my tofu, cider, greens in a bag and beer?

i cleaned out this cabinet that's in the corner of my kitchen.
i didn't shoot the before picture on purpose.
you did not want to see the before.

i cleaned out LML's closet, and will
bring stuff shown to my office.

i HAD to clean out this part of my pantry. it was making me crazy.
whew- it looks a little better now.
my family likes to fatten me up by giving me chips and cookies.
thanks, family. it's my just in case stash :)

i also cleaned the ceiling fan, and cleaned out a box from the boiler room.

and cooked.

and as for those last 2 items...
my blog is going to explode with information from now until february.

do you have a january to do list?

1.11.2011

it figures :)

amazing, how things can go so well and then someone tries to bring me down.
get over it!

i am ~:)
monday and today have been exceptionally busy for me.
i am kicking ass getting things done- and have discovered there is still not enough time for everything.

for you- i have been photo-cataloguing what's been going on in the day-to-day life of me, though i have realized that i don't blog a lot about myself or things going on in my life.

the less than mundane things i mean (which i don't find mundane)...the reason for this is wandering minds want to know. these are the wandering minds i'd rather have NOT know- but what is one to do?

ah, ding ding! move on.

so here's my deal-
january is going to be interesting because i have a goal.
it's a big one. are you ready?

my goal this month is to finish ALL projects!
yes.

the list goes as follows:
  1. edit and complete all stories and novels
  2. illustrate children's stories (for my nephew)
  3. clean out the house of negative stuff
  4. clean it out of un-necessary clutter
  5. take all loose photos and put them in album
  6. complete all scrapbooks, unfinished or untouched
  7. print out what needs to get printed out on this computer
  8. delete un-needed files from computer
  9. upload all photos into usb disc AND photo programs
  10. select photos to be printed
  11. get them printed (and repeat above)
  12. finish reading all books left before i buy or pick up a new one
  13. call church to pick up clothes for donation
  14. go through and complete everything on my to-do list, which has come down considerably in the last two days. I am VERY excited about this.
  15. send out those packages!
  16. make those appointments (snow keeps stopping me from doing this)
  17. start book club
  18. organize all files/bills
  19. make a list of places from here to long island i'd like to see
  20. make my new years resolutions
is that enough? i can do that in a little over 2 weeks...right?
of course i can...
so follow along and let's see how this first month of my new year goes!
i hope you'll be with me every step of the way :)
in the meantime- do you have a similar month-to do list? i'd love to hear it!

much much love,
the globetrotting gamine

edited to add:
21. add all articles to blog i thought were interesting (and hopefully you will, too)
22. add to blog list of items i wanted to blog about

i'll go again before i start making even less sense...
