summer time menu

on one of my summer adventures,
the bestie suggested, in our absolute desperate hunger,
that we stop by this beautiful Thai place called amyours.

Usually, I don't have a taste for Thai Iced Tea- but
oh
my
god!
it was so awesome!

and we also preferred the curry puffs (bottom photo)

of course,
we communicated between bites
and muffled noises
and freudian slips
while we enjoyed yet another yummy meal together.

totally worth the trip there.
for info, you can e-mail!

love me,

and her hubby
really missed you!

the delicious food
featured in the picture above
was consumed at our newest fave place
called erik's

so,
chili---goooooood
spinach panini---goooooood
turkey panini with raspberry creamcheese (i think?)---gooooooooood

the globetrotting gamine does not share her food!

first now last stop!

iron hill was the place we were supposed to hit first...
but we  hit it at the absolute end of our road trip!

it was so awesome- from the beers
to the nachos...
and sweet potato fries?

total heaven.

i wish this was dinner tonight.
i love you, iron hill!

tune inn

^where we arrived after leaving maryland!
(mozzarella sticks and jalapeno poppers- worth it)
(guy's favorite- from diners, drive-in's, and dives...the Joe's West Virginia (it was so delicious) )
(i know this was something with roast beef in it- but anything slathered in cheese looks great)

(me pretending to choke that handsome man)
a deer's ass.

yes.
it was lit from underneath.

our first 'diners, drive-ins and dives' stop.

what do you think?

love me,
the globetrotting gamine

you don't have toast?

a very interesting breakfast choice...
for us new york folk- who are used to diners...

this was obviously not one.
we asked for a crab omellette...

wait, where's the pic?
oh...

 there. with a crepe.
but when we ordered, we asked if the omellette came with toast...
no.
english muffin?
no.
scone? biscuit?
no.
no.

just a floppy little crepe
all thin-like on my plate.

i thought it was odd,
but it really was quite ridiculous--
and that portion you see
is less than HALF of the whole portion!!

wow-zers.

great yummy, crab omelette.

don't mind us.
i love taking pictures and
he doesn't like being in them-
or he was sad about
no-toast.

;)

love me,
the globetrotting gamine

delware/maryland hoppin'

After making our way down this ^
we found ourselves in a very rainy
ocean city, maryland.

it is a cute beach town, that is almost florida-like
in its atmosphere
was already at it's peak season
that hasn't even begun yet!

we decided to take a random recommendation...
and learned that what is featured on a restaurant menu
is almost
always
what you should have!

that ^ is an example of what we should have had

the fat albert
is what i got.

while LML
had a rockfish jambalaya...
which wasn't jambalaya like in nature-
unless being in new orleans
ruined outside-jambalaya for us
forever.

however-
crab
good.

and i don't share food :)

do YOU have any comments?
don't hold back!

love me,
the globetrotting gamine

the pickled pig

going on a road trip can be bad for two reasons:
the fattening and AMAZING food you're going to eat...
and the fact that you know you have to detox when you get home.

though, it is all worth it.
it really, truly is.

we had a recommendation
to head on over to 'the pickled pig pub'.

with a name like that, how can you NOT go?

2 words:
fried.
pickles.

oh my word.
i am thinking they were beer-battered, though it mattered not
these were so good it was quite ridiculous
and inspired me to do the same
one day at home
for my dinner menu.

we were delighted about the lunch-fare as well.
(i had the warm pretzel turkey sandwich-
another cool thing to make!)
all in all-
i so recommend this place.

and will dream about it often.

going the extra mile

i have been in meetings and appointments all week.
it's looking like my schedule won't slow down for quite a while,
but i am exhausted and happy.

there is so much that i have to do,
before celebrating events with my friends-
and before planning so many more events
that it's really just exhausting to think about.

on a happy note-
this weather has been amazing, and has been keeping me out and about.
have you guys done anything out of the ordinary or interesting?

oh yeah--
i have! i have! lol...

and of course, it involves food--
and, of course-
there are no pictures...
because we "eated it".

we went to a place on my bucket list of restaurants-
called waterzooi.

i was so excited--
so LML and I get there with some friends, get seated immediately...
and probably scared our poor waitress with the amount of food and drinks we ordered--
and honestly, we did go overboard but it was worth it.

what do i describe as overboard?
well, we were all getting a little warm- it was warm in there until we believe they turned on the air
(probably because of us heathen)
and before that half of us took turns going outside
to get air...

so we've decided...
we love you waterzooi-
but next time, we're just enjoying your incredible beer selections!!

love love love

so keep dreaming,
and i'll see you around, bloggie friends...
probably at a coffee shop,
with a notebook, and my medusa- like hair sans snakes.

dear honduras

Honduras Checklist:
  • sight-see
  • take pictures
  • go to the best beach
  • talk to the locals to find out where to go for lunch
  • go to lunch and eat something new and crazy
  • so there we were: roatan, honduras. we were on an adventure, exploring everything we possibly could and having so much fun...
then we had to battle itty bitty sand flies on the beach so i wrapped myself up like a mummy while LML sought solace in the sea.

of course, we find out that the locals swore by this place, so we chose to have a yummy lunch of:
rice
beans
plantains
local beer (holy moly, that beer pictured below is awesome)
and iguana.

yes, iguana.

pictures below of our meal with a friend...

though it sounds creepy and weird...
it really wasn't- it was quite good.

this deters a little from our nightly vegetarian feasts we usually prepare back home
but everyone needs to come out of their comfort zone somehow and
we are so glad we did.

here's to good food and good friends ;)

love me,
the globetrotting gamine

the mr. wasabi hangout

it's not a surprise
that i'm a little obsessed over
all food stuffs-
way including sushi.

i don't mind that other people
may not necessarily feel the same way--
because that means more for me!

in this case, a good friend and I
are constantly on the hunt for
a new yummy sushi hangout...

photos were taken on this quest
at mr. wasabi in bayside
where we had crab meat croquettes...

and a bunch of other things I don't remember...
except that it was
goooooood!

what is your favorite restaurant? it doesn't have to be sushi, but i'd love to hear your stories!!

Island Hopper Restaurant

While traveling around the great state of Massachusetts, we..well...
got hungry.

Venturing the 20 freezing steps from our hotel to the first packed restaurant we found- we flew into Island Hopper for some southeast asian cuisine to warm our tootsies.

This is what happy looks like:

i apologize for the quality of the photos. i used my ipod and there was no flash. we were also starved and cold, and extremely exhausted...

in a good way :)

nothing compares to a yummy pad-thai on a frosty night with beautiful company!

top to bottom: samosas, pad-thai, and kung pao chicken and rice.
love!

the landmark diner

 on one summer day,
a group of girls took a trip
to a diner...
called 'landmark'.

they fell in love with the menu,
and ate and sipped coffee and tea
even though it was after lunchtime...

they ordered...
this incredibly yummy challah french toast.
this made them happy.

then they ordered a spinach fritata
which inspired another one
of their brunch-y events.

um...
they ordered other things, too-
but they don't remember what it was
because this was all that was left in the end.

happy bellies,
besties,
and coffee

is what life is all about.

birthday and menu

this is a photo
of me and my baby--
who is actually my nephew
that i can't believe has become so grown up!

i have two nephews,
this guy and another guy ( ;) )
that i love very much
and that check out my blog every chance they get.

my niece would, too,
but she's a very busy chiquita!

we all see each other
as often as our busy schedules
allow us.

so what do we like to do on our birthdays?

um, sushi!
of course...

 sushi at atami in whitestone...
is quite tasty!!

visit if you can

the best times

the best times are spent
with good friends
and good food
and good wine.

'nuff said <3

Veranda- you are awesome! There should be a wine and cheese sampler night...
because we probably could have stayed for much longer!

We never run out of things to talk about and
they
are
awesome!
