the mr. wasabi hangout
it's not a surprise
that i'm a little obsessed over
all food stuffs-
way including sushi.
i don't mind that other people
may not necessarily feel the same way--
because that means more for me!
in this case, a good friend and I
are constantly on the hunt for
a new yummy sushi hangout...
photos were taken on this quest
at mr. wasabi in bayside
where we had crab meat croquettes...
and a bunch of other things I don't remember...
except that it was
goooooood!
what is your favorite restaurant? it doesn't have to be sushi, but i'd love to hear your stories!!

but she's a very busy chiquita!
we all see each other
as often as our busy schedules
allow us.

sushi village rocks :)
it was august when LML and I walked into sushi village.
we were always wary of the place that looks like a little japanese hut...it had switched owners so many time in the last 25 years, it's uncanny.
so when a dear friend told us to venture there over the summer, we were skeptical and said...
that we would go with him :)
we are so happy we did!
upon arriving, we realize that it's an untraditional sushi buffet...
we get these when seated...

we get to order as much as we want,
as long as we eat it? sure....
this is what the end result looks like.
of course, there's a kitchen menu that serves up spicy seaweed salad (which you must try),
different sorts of tempuras and soups,
salads and desserts...
must try if you're in queens.
thanks for introducing us to this place, jason!
we
love
it!

Autumn Menus
dear bloggie friends:
i find it a form of therapy lately, for me to be cooking.
my new fave to make? wraps...wraps!
they are truly delicious, and if you have a mostly-veggie diet i find that making a wrap totally plays up ones nightly menu. I won't tell you all my secrets for the one below...but to sautee the spinach and mushrooms with onions and garlic is SUBLIME! YUM!
This is not the first time we've eaten at Homura Sushi...it's awesome!
Though the service this time was a little bit, odd- shall we say.
But the Sushi, as usual, was awesome...
and then there was one!!
love me,
the globetrotting gamine

Weekend Menu
While my sweetie was home passed out like this this weekend...seriously, this is how he sleeps!
We took out BFF to a celebratory THANK GOD YOU FINALLY FINISHED SCHOOL meal...this is what we ate at Benihana's
a tea for me because I am STILL getting over what I'd like to think is the flu!
rice heart! thumpity, thump...
LML and BFFs meal (2 peas in a pod they are...) Filet Mignon!
Onion Volcano...so exciting when it's just an onion!
View of the window- it was the first snow *you can't tell though...*
After the blizzard began, we decided to be really crazy and head out to Astoria to shop. Maybe it was a mistake, because it was coming down hard, and our usually parking spot turned out to be a HIKE on the way to it when snow is kicking the crap out of you. Thankfully, we didn't go home much sicker/under the weather than we were when the day had started out!
The next day, we were supposed to go to the outlets in Riverhead, and got sidetracked by the Blizzard. LML woke me up (after shoveling the walk and thawing out our truck...I'm the luckiest girl in the world!) and said we should brave the storm. Eventually waking up from my long winter's nap...we got into the car, got our coffee and 'holiday' muffin (we only get muffins on extra-special occassions), and trekked all the way over to BFFs house to laugh at her stubborness. She wanted to stay home.
Until she found out we had four wheel drive. Then, she decided to come out with us. This is what we ate...and where we ate at!
My tea...because I'm scared to be sick ever again!
Yummy things that look like this!
That's all for the weekend menu...check out my blizzard post soon!!
Much Love and Stay Warm!

Weekdays Menu [picture heavy post!]
I know, I always do my weekend menu post. This week, since I am home and sick like a dog, I have a stay in-weekday menu...
So I took some pictures to share with you. On Monday night, after I met with my lovely lady blogger friend @ eatsgrass.blogspot.com, I picked up some sushi for LML to try.
He has yet to come with me to this place my dear friends have found- so I wanted to bring some home for him. We got to use our sushi sets (flatware?)...

That's the Halloween Roll from Bell Sushi. I'm sure I've blogged about it before, but isn't it beautiful?
He loved it and now can't wait to go there :) My job is done.
Tuesday night I decided to make my baked chicken.
That's the chicken getting prepped to bathe in...
the eggs that I beat together with some spices. When I coated the chicken I dunked it in my special breadcrumb mix. I made it from scratch but you can use store-bought or mashed up corn flakes, if you like.
After I coated the chicken with the breadcrumbs, it looked like this:
LML said that the chicken was sublime :)
Score, again!
While I was waiting for the chicken to bake- this is what my assistant was doing:
Wish I could sleep like that. More on what I cooked/baked this week tomorrow! Pleasant dreams, bloggers!

Weekend Menu
What you see pictured above is heaven. Absolute Heaven. There are days upon days that I dream of it- the sweet tofu. Yum. Yum yum.
Again, LML and I trekked (drove!) to Minado, which has the best sushi buffet ever. It is the ultimate in any sushi I have had thus far, give or take specific rolls at specific places. I have yet to try a different place for the new month rolling by, so if you are in the New York area or know of any outstanding sushi place, please let me know!
Above pictured is that plate that LML fixes for us when we get to the buffet. Isn't he wonderful? MMMM variety sushi...And the picture below? A roll that I cannot have due to lactose intolerance!! Sigh...
Please notice above some of the array of sweet tofu and other a la carte pieces. I tried to squeeze in to the photo pictures of sushi rolls, but my camera can only contain so much beauty!
All above photos are taken at our neighborhood Pizzeria Uno's, which we had a coupon for so we used it. We also entrapped a certain special someone to come out with us and eat as a break from her tedious studying! The first photo is my [healthy] dish of herb crusted chicken, with whole grain rice, craisins and vegetable. The Chicken Spinnocolli (sp) with Penne for LML, and the Eggplant and Feta individual pizza for my 'client' (stop laughing!) Ms. New Jersey, United States.
Much Love,
the globetrotting gamine
