oh, harvey

to start, i would like to say how amazing my friends are.
old and new have given me so many smiles, laughs, hugs and more that i am truly thankful
for each and every one of them.

over the summer, some of us trekked on over to the roundabout theater
in manhattan
to watch Harvey.

so my first reaction?
Sheldon, sheldon, omg!!

(Side note: I love TBBT. I love Sheldon. I wish I could have hugged him because i do think he is so awesome and he makes me quite happy)

the show was
epic.

i was actually busting a gut laughing in the audience
and was happy that
i didn't research the story line itself.

if you can see the show-
see the preview with James Stewart-
watch The Big Bang Theory.

so
much
awesomeness

and i will truly never forget it!

summer time menu

on one of my summer adventures,
the bestie suggested, in our absolute desperate hunger,
that we stop by this beautiful Thai place called amyours.

Usually, I don't have a taste for Thai Iced Tea- but
oh
my
god!
it was so awesome!

and we also preferred the curry puffs (bottom photo)

of course,
we communicated between bites
and muffled noises
and freudian slips
while we enjoyed yet another yummy meal together.

totally worth the trip there.
for info, you can e-mail!

love me,
the globetrotting gamine

copycats vs. flattery

(taken from google images who took it from etsy.com. i don't own this.)

you've heard the saying:
imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

well, that saying really bothers me.
probably because growing up,
my parents gave me every opportunity
to surround myself with art, culture, diversity
and love...

so i always wanted to be different,
and i was different...
and when everyone in high school was trying to copy each other...
i was still trying to be different.

maybe it was the rebellious side of me, maybe it was just blood...
but ugh, i wanted to be different.
and i was lucky enough to find amazing friends
who loved me for me!

because of this, i hated competition even though i knew most thrived on it.
me, i thrived on to-do lists from the moment i could write.
(my mama thought i was a reincarnated genius- or just a genius)

which leads me to my point-
you like what someone is wearing, writing, reading, doing
and you're friends with them and even if you're not
you wish them all the best,
because you like what they bought to your life.

and then you're hurt because sensitive, trusting you
gets duped by their nasty, though counterproductive to themselves only, nature.
they don't wish you the best.
they don't even wish themselves the best-
they think they're PERFECT and you're crazy
and then they copy you.

30 year old me says-
so be it.
y'all who do this are going to be crazy
with or without knowing me
so please don't know me.

make it your best effort to not know me.

i am honestly flattered,
that people out there
still succumb to copying (almost to the T)
leaders in their field/convictions/community, etc.
and people who are original in everything they do--

it shows who is weak.

it's the way of the world.

so,
go about your merry days--
and copy, imitate away!!

2012 Goals

little is better than mapping out a plan of action i think- BUT you have to accept the fact that things might not turn out exactly how you plan. so for 2012, i made the conscious decision that i will be open to whatever is thrown at me and i will rock it. thus, my goals for 2012 are not written in stone and are subject to change:

  1. keep visualizing the lifestyle i'd like to lead, even though it's scaring the bejeezus out of me!
  2. that one special project i'm waiting to hear back on- rock it.
  3. finish writing and illustrating at least 2 more of my children's book ideas- because practice makes perfect and the time is right. (remember, you can find out all about that here)
  4. travel more- duh. like you weren't waiting for that one ;)
  5. minimize paper and mental! clutter
  6. refine blog posts to stories, lists, menu's, photographs...pfft, like i'd ever run out of things to ramble on about anyway!
  7. re-do my office. thus needing design and organizational ideas which i love!
  8. buy that juicer and juice! juice, damnit!
  9. be out of my comfort zone a little more, because i found that it's eye-opening.
  10. keep to what my Momma taught me: "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all!"
mmm...
yeah, #10 is going to be a toughie.

hope you're 2012 is kicking ass so far,
the globetrotting gamine

something in the air...

family 2008
family 2008-n-family now- we changed quite a bit!
nothing changes but everything changes :)
no- i'm not wearing makeup. you noticed correctly.

there is something about
getting ready for the holidays
that can't be beat.

we don't feel the same way about christmas morning
the way we used to as little children
waiting for santa to magically leave you
a giftie under the tree...
or in your stocking.

now, for most of the people i've grown up with
a lot of us have our own children,
or dote on our nieces and nephews...
we live for watching their eyes light up,
and watching them squeal with delight
at a new toy that they really, really wanted...

of course, as we get older--
us without the children
have to endure hours of 'why me?' conversations
and arguments of ' why aren't you putting more on your plate?'

but in the midst of all that-
through the drama, and the card writing,
friends we love, and others we'll never see again...

through the sights of Christmas movies,
songs,
memories...

we'll always remember family.

merry christmas eve <3
do good.

12.20.2011

christmas ha-ha

"hey.
i think someone's snapping a picture of us."

"eh?"

seriousness
going on
during christmas
2008.

lol...
i love my boys!

12.15.2011

christmas past I

2003.
our family was growing with almost
each passing year.
this was my youngest nephews
and now-best friend
first christmas with us.

note what a happy baby he was...
he loved it when LML would pick him up
and "fly" him through the air.

note how much we've all changed!
geez!!

i think that's the best part
of what christmas photos show us-
growth, love, and happiness.

the mr. wasabi hangout

it's not a surprise
that i'm a little obsessed over
all food stuffs-
way including sushi.

i don't mind that other people
may not necessarily feel the same way--
because that means more for me!

in this case, a good friend and I
are constantly on the hunt for
a new yummy sushi hangout...

photos were taken on this quest
at mr. wasabi in bayside
where we had crab meat croquettes...

and a bunch of other things I don't remember...
except that it was
goooooood!

what is your favorite restaurant? it doesn't have to be sushi, but i'd love to hear your stories!!

ode to friends

(illustration by me! (duh) psst--that's me in the middle)

i stop and think to myself from time to time...
how much my life has changed,
and how much it hasn't.

i don't know if i am the only one who goes through this-
but for a long while now--
i have been so thankful to the universe
for the life it's given me
and the people in it.

i drew the picture above
inspired by my dearest friends
who I never even could have wished for...

that's how amazing they are.

Island Hopper Restaurant

While traveling around the great state of Massachusetts, we..well...
got hungry.

Venturing the 20 freezing steps from our hotel to the first packed restaurant we found- we flew into Island Hopper for some southeast asian cuisine to warm our tootsies.

This is what happy looks like:

i apologize for the quality of the photos. i used my ipod and there was no flash. we were also starved and cold, and extremely exhausted...

in a good way :)

nothing compares to a yummy pad-thai on a frosty night with beautiful company!

top to bottom: samosas, pad-thai, and kung pao chicken and rice.
love!

the eliot hotel

first off,
let me say that the eliot hotel in boston
is awesome like you have no idea.
this is what the room my girlfriends and i stayed in...

we learned a few things about each other when we were there:
  • vegging out in front of the tv with a glass of wine is as much fun as going out for thai food
  • that we can laugh and have fun...and not scare each other silly
  • that i sleep with a pillow on top of my body when I am NOT with LML or my puppy.
  • that one of us walks into walls
  • and one of us needs to have the bed fixed at all times.
  • we're clean freaks
  • we like going to sleep at a reasonable hour.
  • food, wine, exploring, photography? check check, check check.
i love them so <3

big love to my friends and the crew at the eliot hotel. you guys are "da bomb". hee hee

love!

birthday and menu

this is a photo
of me and my baby--
who is actually my nephew
that i can't believe has become so grown up!

i have two nephews,
this guy and another guy ( ;) )
that i love very much
and that check out my blog every chance they get.

my niece would, too,
but she's a very busy chiquita!

we all see each other
as often as our busy schedules
allow us.

so what do we like to do on our birthdays?

um, sushi!
of course...

 sushi at atami in whitestone...
is quite tasty!!

visit if you can

11.03.2011

the best times

the best times are spent
with good friends
and good food
and good wine.

'nuff said <3

Veranda- you are awesome! There should be a wine and cheese sampler night...
because we probably could have stayed for much longer!

We never run out of things to talk about and
they
are
awesome!

9.9.00

Let there be joy and harmony-
from the roof of sky above
to the deep blue sea.

All that we have under the sun
singing loud in unheard sounds
telling us that we are one.

-Deep Forest (our wedding song 10.9.05)

i love you
