adoption from pup's point of view

hi.
pup here.
how is your weekend going?

i just wanted to share a little story with you.

7 years ago i was born.
and 8 months after that
i was adopted by this really tall guy
who fell right in love with me.

he took me away with all of my stuff
and on a long journey from where i used to live
we pulled up to what he said was my new home.

i was so scared
that he was going to leave me
somewhere i didn't want to be
because the truth is...
i liked him.

so he walked me into this house,
knocked on a door and ordered someone to hide...
and then he set me down on the floor.

doing a quick check-- the house smelled good...
it was decorated for autumn
and even though it was very clean
you could tell that a lot of people were always there

then this new guy yells to no one, to open the door
and i saw this frazzled looking girl
who was suddenly so happy to see me!!

ME!
was this my new home?
were these my new people??
so i ran and ran and ran
for what felt like forever

until i took a running leap into the girls arms
and licked her ferociously
so that i could show her i wanted to stay....

and i wanted to make sure
that the guy who smelled good
knew i liked him, too,
so i ran to him and gave him some licks.

and then the most wonderful things happened.
they scooped me up into both of their arms
and gave me hugs...

and shut the door.

they told me i was home.

lieb cellars

Lieb Cellars
35 Cox Neck Road, Mattituck NY

Since we are unable to went for winter/this horrible weather to end, we took a siesta out to wine country some weeks back. It was there we fell upon Lieb, where we did a wine and chocolate pairing that was exquisite. Chocolate featured Bon Bons Chocolatier of Huntington <3

We were also touched to see that one of their 'wines for the cause' was the Syrah.

Why it's touching?
"Syrah is one of our favorite grapes and was also the name of our vineyard mascot, who we recently lost to kidney disease. This Syrah wine has been created in his memory. 20% of the proceeds from sales of this wine will be donated to the non-profit Animal Medical Center in NYC for research and treatment of kidney disease in animals. For more information visit:

http://www.amcny.org/supportamc/syrah.aspx.

This is a cool climate Syrah without the jammy fruit found in many warm climate Syrah/Shiraz. Instead it is a medium bodied with balanced acidity, showing black fruit and spiced earth. Well-integrated oak aging produces hints of clove and soft tannins, while the addition of Merlot rounds out the mouthfeel."

Freaking awesome, Lieb. Though we had more than one wine that was very flavorful- we can't remember so we'll have to come back <3

a few days ago...

i began a campaign based on this post...

i have heard many wonderful things happening for the people who place campaigns on indiegogo.com. i need help, too!

the $5000 goal that i'd like to reach is going to be split between me and a local animal shelter that i will have on board come Monday. I will donate $2500 to them, and another shelter.

the $2500 i will be keeping will be split up as follows:

scanner/printer/ink: approximately $200 (let us pray)

marketing products for my books: approximately $50 (here's hoping)

cooking class: approximately $150-200...to help out LML and my doggie, and most of all, myself.

writing class: approximately $150-200...to help me get out and about

graphic design class: approximately $150-300 because i really want to learn cool things

price of printing out books: approximately 950

vacation to long island to get ideas/my thoughts together: $200

iPad--  a whopping $600

that's approximately $2500 give or take.

obviously, me marketing (advertising) is going to drive me bananas. i am open to anyone helping me out if they want to donate used materials, a free class, advertising opportunity, etc. please, please help in anyway you can <3

i am also willing to blog about everything going on with my books from here on out and give a play by play about what's going on.

this week i am doing what i can to raise money within my online community...and wouldn't you know it...it's the day my printer ran out of ink.

bastard.

today...

while this was going on outside:

...i hung out with this guy...

...i cleaned the house. and then...

  • made a reservation to...somewhere ;)
  • organized my jewelry into ice cube tray- fun idea!
  • made chicken and potatoes (pics tomorrow!)
  • went to Vitamin Angels and donated some money
  • uploaded all pictures (since last january, excluding guatemala) to usb drives
  • realized i had the second tomb raider movie, so i watched it.
  • wrote
  • made a list of what i need to shop for
  • chiped the icy snow off my car and pushed it into the street...
because my tenant
stole my shovel
to dig out his car
for the hour
that i was sweeping away
snow balls and blocks
into the street
so the cars can stomp on it.

sigh

oh, and realized that some people?
yeah, they're ridiculous!

but not you. you guys write and read for living. these people play games online all day.
this is why i love you guys.

have a wonderful weekend! hope you have lots of fun and stay warm and safe <3

love,
mg

Ode to Washing Dishes

Oh, dishes.
You are in my nightmares.
Everytime I wash you, I have to do it again.
There is always a plate in my stink.
My hands are dry.

(my assistant hates when i was dishes, too. freaks him out!)
I hate you.
I hate the way stuff sticks to you.
I hate the way I have to soak you for days until I can scrub gunk off.
Sponge after sponge, dish after dish.

You suck
you suck
you suck.

I lied. Maybe all I want for Christmas is a new dishwasher. Please?

Love,
the globetrotting gamine

On a day like this...

I would love to:
* pack and get out of here
* to shake people until they wake up and figure out how to save themselves rather than to have someone save THEM
*have an assistant
*have a desk (!)
*stay home and sleep
*have a spa day, I have no idea what I'm saving it for
*have someone to clean the kitchen. Just the kitchen. or, a working dishwasher (!)
*have an office/art studio to store said desk and assistant...and also, so I can draw...

(puppy drawings by me)

Instead I have to:
*work on the samples
*pay for the business cards
*drop puppy off to groomers
*shop for neccesities (apparently, I have forgotten how to spell this morning...)
*do the laundry (3 loads- including fluffing & folding, putting away, etc)
*tweak the photography webpage with my friend, C
*continue on the lists
*still fix my agenda book
*pay the rest of the builds
*maybe buy stamps
*go through the storage units to see what i am donating/giving away
*see if I have Christmas cards...to start on those.
*organize photos online
*correspondence, correspondence
*copyright/trademark brand/label name

Any advice? Aside from a much needed happy-hour?

Love,
MG

A weekend less crazy

(photo shot by my hunny, sometime around 2003. i don't eat donuts unless it's a treat anymore)

A weekend less crazy would be a welcomed- treat for all. I would love for one weekend to:

*as usual, be wakened to doggie snuggles and kisses, while in the arms of LML
*have the three of us have breakfast in bed in front of a roaring fireplace (this one hasn't happened yet, but maybe we can go to a hotel to have it accomplished!
*to shut off all cell phones, and hide from all outside interruptions
*to walk around in the snow with my small puppy, so that we could only see him via his outfits, and his eyes and nose :D
*to have yummy hotchocolate in front of previously said fireplace...
*to just get out of NY

will post more tomorrow...

love me,
the globetrotting gamine

What?!

For the record: I used to love Kate Beckinsdale until today, when I saw a photo of her in one of those gossip mags, November issue...

How can she dangle a little white puppy from a leash?? Awwwww...stupid Kate!

I'm just sad.
