more ch-ch-ch-changes

(this was taken 1.13.13- about a month after we shaved it all off. now, i have renegade hairspikes and it's growing in slooooowly. gosh darned chemo.)

cancer sucks ass. isn't life crazy? it seems that when it has just about kicked you into oblivion, it turns around and opens your eyes to more opportunities, and eye openers like never before.

dear universe, i've been listening. i know i should have spent more time out of the house and out of the gym. i'm excited about my upcoming 2nd chance at life and ready to totally do things differently- again. i've also learned, or re-learned, that one is ever-evolving and ever-learning and that love is the only thing that makes the world go round. i've learned, despite what's happened, that i love my body and must do whatever i have to do to protect it. the family and friends who constantly check up on me- i've always known that they were the real 'thang' and still so, so thankful to have such thoughtful, happy and beautiful people in my life.

things i'm so excited to do:

  • more time with family (incl. LML, nieces, nephews, parentals, sisters, etc.)
  • movies, especially beautiful creatures, despicable me 2, and watching breaking dawn 2 with my daddy!
  • get a manicure and pedicure- finallyyyy (with nail polish from whole foods i'm kinda excited about)
  • going back to work (i.e. books, magazine...)
  • vacation, all i ever wanted...
  • to do lists of things to do--issues, yes, I gots 'em!

with the upcoming blizzard, i've visited some stores and the library in preparation. we are almost good to go. movies, candles, food, books- check.
with chemo coming up this week, i know i'll be getting in a lot of sleep so i know i'll dream up more opportunities and projects to keep myself busy.

hope no one gets hit hard with the nasty weather, and stay warm, happy and toasty!

love me,
the globetrotting gamine

why blog?

why blog?

what's the point really, you think to yourself as you begin to type. is anyone going to read it?
will people enjoy it?
am i going to sell my soul to get more followers?

the truth is, even when i first started blogging
(was it august 2009 or 2010? who knows...)
i wanted to do it for me, not for the fame.

my reasons were this:
  • crazy turmoil from circumstances that couldn't be helped at the time (and now i am so thankful for!)
  • the inane urge to document everything- which i'd been doing in journals for years
  • finally making contact with people who were more like me- something i'd never experienced til that fateful day
  • writing- it was always in my blood, and blogging got the juices flowing. it was the clearest time of the day when i was writing.
now i wonder-
who blogs other than creative types like me?
is blogging more influential for people to receive job offers and opportunities?
(it works for some people, truth be told--i am one of them but not to the
extent of others opportunities...it's still amazing!)

my entire life literally changed for the better
upon having a blog.
i have met so many amazing people,
been given so many opportunities...
but even more so, the insights i actually gave myself
have been invaluable.

what a crazy world we live in
when your craft
can transform your life
and fill it with magic.

will i ever rename, change,
give up on this blog?
why?

it's an extension of me.
professional, unprofessional,
way too complicated,
not caring if people like it or me or not...
too many pictures, ideas, memories?

i blog for me.

why would i change myself?
or my blog, for that matter ;)

hope y'all feel the same about your own blogging/writing experiences!

i wish

i wish that i can tell you in detail what's been going on!

there is so much to share, and it's killing me that i can't. it really is.

in the meantime, i don't even have access to my own computer right now. the charger died and i am waiting for the replacement in the mail.

the Globetrotting Gamine is going to be undergoing some small changes, that should have the kinks worked out by fall.

(because i love fall)

in other news: it's Oprah's last two shows, today and tomorrow. I am really sad about it- and i don't usually get caught up in media hype (unless it's trying to find a link to the actual preview of twlight: breaking dawn) She has inspired so many to do so much, so I think a little of my inspiration to- ahem- change a few things comes from her.

It will give me a chance to catch up on shows I've missed and books that she's recommended for her book club. yay!

ah- yes. speaking of books- i am working diligently on mine, securing an agent or well- known and awesome publisher, etc. that'll give me some headway into completing the rest of the items on my to-do list.

FRIDAY- was the best career day ever. I have been on both sides of the career day spectrum, but i have to say- P S 209 is such an awesome school. I did one of my internship's there and going back reminded me why I loved school counseling so. Of course, P.S. 209 was such a big difference from where I had gone on to work that it's practically ridiculous.

I absolutely enjoyed the children in the classes I visited. They were so great- and so smart! I admit to wanting to take a few of them home with me but I don't think their parents would have appreciated that much. (Hell, I would miss them!)

It was also an opportunity to meet a lot of great authors and people of different career backgrounds.

So a big whopping thank you to P.S. 209- i love you so :)

NOTE:: Again, I apologize for the lack of photo on today's post. I'm working on my photography portfolio (hush hush)

How has your weekend been? Do you have any good plans for Memorial Day weekend? I would love to hear them :)

love love love me,
the globetrotting gamine

enhance your life: it is amazing

it is amazing where life takes you...
you can't ever make plans.

you have to fly by the seat of your pants, really.
yes, there are routines. there are schedules, and even control freaks.
but how much can you really control?

as much as any person has free will, and the right to choose what they want for themselves, the world is always subject to change.

and it always will.

people, land, nature, trees, LIFE will always change.

thus change being my theme for the year.

amongst the many life changes i have gone through and still am going through, i know who i am.
i know i am strong, i know i am persistent.
i know who i am.

not many people like that, and that's fine. i'm not looking for approval.
i am my strongest motivation, i am my own worst or best critic.

that's one of my latest realizations that i am thankful i have had this past year.

i have applied myself and succeeded in the past; just as i will in the future.
i will survive struggles and challenges thrown at me and be the better for it.
and i'll have fun doing it. i'll have fun living my life.

because it's my own, after all.
and it's good :)
