hello chaotic self...

(at least i have a cute doggie who snuggles with me :) )

It's been quite a while since I've felt like myself- since my body has waged war on me, really.
Why? I don't know. I exercise, eat right, haven't globetrotted anywhere in these last few months, pretty much no stress (yeah, yeah, insert world's smallest violin here, I know...)

Oh, one cause of stress: my book coming out in bookstores, see here

To make matters- interesting- it started to hurt my entire body when typing so I was inspired to visit my Mom's Holistic Doctor.

Monday was my first time receiving acupuncture. I was not relaxed, and almost immediately I got a case of the itchies. In my ear, on my cheek, on my forehead...but the doc told me not to move.

So, I didn't.

The second part of my therapy is tea. The tea is geared toward my 100 ailments- she gears them individually towards each patient and they have an almost immediate effect. However-

it's gross. Vile. Ew.

The doc told me to just suck it down and not think about it. Twice a day until this coming Monday.

I finished my third cup today.

I've had a disgusting cramp in my leg- which could be any number of things but other than that, I've been feeling a teeny weeny bit better.

I'll catch you up ASAP!

Hope you're all feeling wonderful and please shoot me 'feel good' vibes :)

Love me,

Baykery Cafe

A good place to start your walking and driving tour of Oyster Bay is at the Baykery Café at 124 South Street. Their menu reads, "Breakfast served all day. No punishment for late sleepers." So don't worry if you're in the mood for a large morning meal during the middle of the day!

The Baykery Café serves sandwiches, salads, omelettes and more in a quiet, intimate space frequented by locals. If you have a sweet tooth, you're in luck. The Baykery Café offers a wide variety of desserts including luscious brownies, tempting raspberry bars, chewy oatmeal raisin cookies and much more.
If you'd like to lounge for a while, order a Danish or apple pie, a cappuccino or a glass of freshly-squeezed orange juice, and read a book in the cozy little library in the back of the café.

Summer days with my bff always go way too fast.
Usually, we come up with a plan of things to do and somehow it always gets sidetracked.

One of the places we wanted to hit this summer was the Baykery Cafe in Oyster Bay.
(it rhymes)
It was very cute, you can tell by the ambiance in the top shot.
However- yes. The bottom shot is evidence that we demolished a red velvet cupcake.
I'm pretty sure the Baykery's name was changed to Gulden's. (I've misplaced the business card!)

If you'd like more info, the linky is above!

Happy Summer,

happy heart day

happy valentine's day- a day that gives an excuse to tell someone you love them and have chocolate can't be all bad, i figure. not that this is the only day you should be doing just that :)

after some tea, and watching my favorite cooking channel TV show on demand of Extra Virgin, i am still kind of icked out. i have to get a blood test today (i figured what better day than today to humor myself) and i'm squeamish. of course, i would be. egads.

i had a wonderful and extremely busy week last week that will take me two weeks to blog about :)

how was your week? did you do anything out of the ordinary, travel somewhere new, or take a culinary adventure?

looking back at all the photos i snapped last week, i have so much to share with you!!

___________________________________________________________________

that was this morning, before i got my bloodwork done.

after my complete checkup, the doctor felt around my neck (i had an upper respiratory infection last month and it's still lingering with a side of ear infection...) and there is a bumpy ?node (that's how he wrote it) on my left side.

ew ew ew.

so i have to go to the radialogist (sp?) next week so they can scan my neck.

ew ew ew.

it freaks me out because i don't know what it is. the doctor said that he wants to be thorough but to take the antibiotic anyway (i am) and not to panic.

ewww! i'm panicking, hello?

do we remember who i am? panic girl?

 eewww wwwwwww

so please note, if i am irate or sound weird in this next week, that's why.

drinking wine til i'm drunk while i'm on antibiotic- good idea or bad? what do you think?

love me,
eew eew

AFTERTASTE

Not Your Ordinary Cup of Tea

Hankering for a break from the wine circuit? Check out Plain T, a wholesale-and slowly emerging retail-tea purveyor on Powell Avenue in Southampton. Housed in a renovated ice factory, Plain T offers a welcome respite from the sweltering heat: soothing burnedout senses with a calm, white-washed chilly interior, tasteful rustic wood furnishings, dangling glass mobiles filled with tea leaves, and boldly vibrant abstract art. At first glance, this is perhaps the chicest tea spot around. Near the entrance, observe the row of pointe shoes and vintage tennis racquets hanging on the exposed brick wall-

Tathiana Teixeira was a professional ballet dancer; Plain T coowner, Tathiana's husband, Alex, played pro tennis. The Teixeiras (shown above) seem to be part of a new wave of food and drink entrepreneurs settling the Hamptons, intent upon successfully launching their businesses with a young and stylishly modern flair.

This Brazilian-born power couple markets their carefully chosen whole leaf teas to a select group of hotels, restaurants and spas. On the Island, look for Plain T at the Maidstone Hotel's high-tea service in East Hampton or at restaurants Sant Ambroeus, Plaza Café, Silvers and Red Bar Brasserie in Southampton. In the city, find them at the Regency's "power breakfast" on Park, at the Nespresso on Madison, and the Aroma Espresso Bar in SoHo.

Adapting to the wine culture of the area, Plain T offers primers on tea and tea tastings by appointment, with a summer Saturday series that is open to the public. Called the "T Loft," wine aficionados and soon-to-be tea followers are seated at a tea bar of sorts where they can drink house-made iced tea ($16/1L) from wine glasses or become schooled in the finer points of tea production, selection and drinking. The Teixeiras use oenological lingo to describe the taste of the tea: "full-bodied," "robust," "round." Spike the experience by ordering the T martini or T champagne. Mellow out with the Teixeira's summer picks: the Japanese sencha ($6/oz.), a mild-tasting green tea; or the South African Rooibos Maracuja ($2.50/oz.), a passion fruit-flavored brew. Or sample their favorites: the Jasmine Phoenix Pearl ($6/oz.) or the Formosa Dung Ti ($4.50/oz.).

All of the teas can be ordered online and are handpacked and shipped in white packaging with Plain T's signature orangestripe logo. As it strategically gathers a Pied Piper-like following of gourmet tea loyalists, Plain T seems destined to make its own unique mark.

Plain T, plain-t.com, 87 Powell Avenue, Southampton, 212.758.2413, by appointment only.
